Okay so after reading some articles online yesterday, I decided to try my hand at installing Moodle.

I’m running a Windows Server 2012 R2 virtual machine in VMware Player – I’ve used this virtual machine as a test bed to setup a self hosted Wiki site and WordPress blog in the past and have decided to reuse this rather than reinstall or create a new VM.

Moodle is preferably installed on a Linux server, but for testing and simplicity I installed Moodle using the Windows Web App Gallery. This meant I didn’t have to install all the separate components required by Moodle.
