If you’ve read through any of my previous blog posts you’ll know by now that I like to try out the latest tools and tech that can be used to create educational content. Today’s tool is lumen5, a video creation platform powered by A.I.
Despite what some say, I like Microsoft Word. Last year after hearing some good feedback from my university cohort, I decided to try a different word processor called Scrivener. This has been a game changer for writing my PhD thesis and this post explains why.
So recently I’ve been using a new video tool called FlexClip. It’s an online app accessed via your web browser that lets you create and edit videos. In this blog post I’ll be sharing my experience of using FlexClip and why you should definately give it a try!

I thought it was about time that I posted a review of the online video/animation creation software, Vyond (formally known as GoAnimate). I’ve been meaning to write this post for a while! I attended my first General Assembly workshop on the 21st of January. After searching for a short course on quick-and-dirty video production, I came across this workshop and thought I’d give it a whirl. At £35 there wasn’t a lot to lose! I was really impressed with the instructor and the venue and really felt as though I learnt a lot. I came away with some valuable skills which I’ve been busy putting into practice!
Powtoon is an online application that allows you to create videos and animations quickly and easily. You can create videos from scratch using the content library, or choose a template. I used the free version of Powtoon to create the “About Me” video found on the front page of this website. This is my review!
In today’s blog post I review Readable. As the name suggests, Readability allows you to check how readable your text is. Readable describes itself as “A collection of tools for improving the quality of your writing. We believe there is a clearer, smarter and better way to write. A way that helps your readers easily understand what you are trying to say, promote or describe. With unrivaled readability scoring, we help marketers, authors, lawyers, and anyone else with a passion for writing.”
Piktochart is a web-based application which can be used to create infographics, presentations and flyers. You can create great looking visuals in just a few steps, without the need for specialist graphic design skills or software! I was able to sign-up and create a poster all within my lunch break.
